2016 Population By-census
The 2016 Population By-census will be held from 16 July to 2 August 2016. The aim is to obtain up-to-date benchmark information on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population of Hong Kong. Government will take reference of such information when they are planning and policy formulation. It is also useful for the private sector and academia for business and research purposes. It is a duty of a responsible citizen to allow such information being collected.
From 16 July to 2 August 2016, the Census and Statistics Department will arrange census officers to visit households, and use mobile tablets to collect the required information. Census officers will carry a Census Officer Certificate of Identity issued by the Census and Statistics Department. This certificate will bear the photo, name and identity number of the census officer concerned. They will also wear purple uniforms and By-census badges, and carry red satchels.
Households are reminded to confirm the identities of the census officers before admitting them to their premises. If you have received invitation of the by-census and have any enquiry, you can call 3955 1555 for our staff.
