Outstanding Ethnic Minority Student Award Scheme 2024

Ethnic minority students may encounter more learning challenges compared to their Chinese counterparts due to cultural differences, language barriers and life adaption in Hong Kong. While students strive to progress in various aspects, there seems to be limited recognition for their efforts paid. In view of that, LINK Centre is going to organise the Outstanding Ethnic Minority Student Award Scheme, to appreciate the excellent achievements of Hong Kong’s outstanding ethnic minority students. We received nearly 300 nominations for the “Outstanding Ethnic Minority Student Award Scheme 2023” and were pleased to award 10 primary and 10 secondary school winners under professional reviews and interviews. Due to the overwhelming response to the Student Award Scheme 2023, we are going to organise the scheme again this year to appreciate the students’ outstanding achievements. 10 primary and 10 secondary school students achieving outstanding performances in various aspects will be selected for this Award. The Scheme aims to recognise outstanding ethnic minority students, encourage their efforts in school learning, overcome challenges and social integration, as well as to build up a positive image among ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.

Objectives

  • To recognize outstanding ethnic minority students who have excellent achievements.
  • To enhance ethnic minorities’ motivation in school learning and social integration.
  • To promote a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges among ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.

The scheme is only open for school nominations. All ethnic minorities (non-Chinese residents) who are studying in primary / secondary school, and have the right of abode in Hong Kong can be nominated for this Award by school principal or teachers.
